Loch Linnhe in Scotland has a special attraction to photographers due to its fantastic scenery and sunsets. Not only photographers enjoy this unique location the area offers many other outdoor activities like kayaking, fishing, sailing and walking. At 31 miles long and about 1.2 miles wide it stretches past Fort William, fed from the North by Loch Eil and continues south as far as the Firth or Lorne, the Loch is fed from the East by Loch Creran and opens up into the Firth of Lorne at its South Western point. Scotland's Iconic Mountain, Buachaille Etive Mor Buachaille Etive Mor, know in Gaelic as The Great Herdsman of Etive, is probably typical of what everyone thinks a mountain should look like, with its near perfect pyramidal shape it stands proud from the A82 before you arrive to the magnificent Glencoe. Buachaille Etive Mor is seen in many Scottish books and postcards and is recognised instantly by every climber and walker with pride. At the end of every May, Blair Castle in Highland Perthshire plays host to a truly unique event; when the regiment of the Atholl Highlanders parades and is reviewed by their colonel, the Duke of Atholl. This is no ordinary regiment however, as it has the distinction of being the only private regiment in Europe. Bedecked in kilts and plaid of the Murray of Atholl tartan and bearing Lee-Metford rifles, the officers, rank and pipe band gather in front of the 700 year old castle and take the salute from the duke.
