So you've decided to Holiday in Wester Ross. Accommodation is booked, travel plans are made and there you are, in one of Scotland's most beautiful scenic landscapes. The rather large area that comprises Wester Ross has no strict borders but it can roughly be found between Loch Carron in the South, Ullapool in the North, Kinlochewe in the East and The Minch, the sea between the Outer Hebrides and the west coast. This year the weather has been off track for some strange reason, climate change perhaps or is it just the usual Scottish Climate? I read somewhere that Scotland had two summers this year, one week in April and one week in September. I was sort of lucky to witness both tail ends of these warm and sunny episodes but I was also unfortunate enough to witness the down side, howling gales, pissing rain and generally dreich weather. Scotland in the Autumn Travel Report

We have made a trip to Scotland in October 2010 and have only just arrived home. Although I have been to Scotland many times this was one of the best trips ever. We arrived on Friday the first of October in Hull in grey and misty weather. After spending the night in a Bed and Breakfast in East Lothian we travelled the next day to Cove in Wester Ross where we had a self catering cottage for the week.
