Cycling the West Highland Way in two and a half days - Whose bright idea was that? Robert Shaw, Simon Freeman and Allan campbell cycled the full length of the west highland way (96miles) over 3 days. They started on the 29th April 2013 in memory of Robert's dad Bobby Shaw. Every one of us will be affected by cancer in some way during our lives so we thought we 'd try and raise much needed funds for a great cause! Simon Freeman writes: If I`m honest, it was probably my fault. Robert Shaw and Allan Campbell were quick to show their enthusiasm for the project though, and so the plan was … [Read more...] about Cycling the West Highland Way Part 1

The Small Isles by Becky Williamson
Most of the content on Scotland Info is written by myself because I've actually been to these areas and places, which makes the writing a bit easier and realistic. Since I haven't been to every part of Scotland (yet) I sometimes rely on others to send me interesting information, pictures etc. Now I have been to the Isle of Rum many years ago, the only island I have visited in The Small Isles. It was on a cloudy and somewhat dreich day and I was only there for a few hours. Hardly enough to get a good enough impression and it was in the time that my photographic skills were not as good as they … [Read more...] about The Small Isles by Becky Williamson
The Pretty Village of Crail in East Neuk of Fife
During our spring tour when we travelled Scotland in a Motorhome, we pretty much covered the entire country, we returned south via Beauly and Aberdeenshire. At a campsite in Tarland, east of Aberdeen, we had a nice chat with someone and he told us to if we were to head south to visit the village of Crail, just south of St. Andrews. Now St. Andrews was on our "To Do List" but I had never heard of Crail. So the next day we had quite a long drive ahead, from the campsite at Tarland via Aberdeen and Stonehaven, where we visited Dunnotar Castle, all the way south to Dundee and St. Andrews. We … [Read more...] about The Pretty Village of Crail in East Neuk of Fife
Scotland in a Motorhome Pictures and Information
We've been on a stunningly beautiful trip in the spring of 2012. We've toured the entire west coast of Scotland in a motorhome, travelled well over 2,000 miles, took over 4,000 pictures, been to 17 campsites and had the best of times ever in Scotland. And there you are, four weeks later, with so many beautiful memories and a "homesick feeling" because it was too good to be true, and if we had the choice we would go back instantly. This motorhome thing was our first holiday this way, we rented one to see if this would be the thing for us and it is, in fact it is much more than that, I could … [Read more...] about Scotland in a Motorhome Pictures and Information
Scottish Autumn Travel Report
This year the weather has been off track for some strange reason, climate change perhaps or is it just the usual Scottish Climate? I read somewhere that Scotland had two summers this year, one week in April and one week in September. I was sort of lucky to witness both tail ends of these warm and sunny episodes but I was also unfortunate enough to witness the down side, howling gales, pissing rain and generally dreich weather. Dreich weather refers to wet, dull, gloomy, dismal, dreary, miserable or any combination of these. While we were on Islay in May for three weeks, this second Scotland … [Read more...] about Scottish Autumn Travel Report
North Kessock Views
Although North Kessock is just a dot on the map and is located next to the A9 road and Kessock Bridge it is an idyllic wee village. Why? If you sit beside the waterfront where the road ends at the point where the Beauly Firth and Moray Firth meet you often have the chance of seeing Bottlenose Dolphins. That is quite special if you keep in mind that across the firth is the bustling city of Inverness and next to you thousands of travellers drive over the huge Kessock Bridge each day. This wee village, which runs along the road, has a good hotel and other amenities. Have a look at the local … [Read more...] about North Kessock Views
