The magnificent Mountains of Glen Shiel, sweeping Southeast from Loch Duich, delivers some of the best walking routes in the Scottish Highlands. Kyle of Lochalsh is a town on the northwest of Scotland, and home to the Skye bridge. Before the bridge, Kyle of Lochalsh was the main port for the ferry to the Isle of Skye, but the town is now a passing place for commuters heading to Skye or Wester Ross. I can't help feel a little sorry for the Kyle of Lochalsh, once a busy place with people waiting for the next ferry to the island, but it does have its charms, if you take the time to stop and look before heading straight to the Skye Bridge. Loch Linnhe in Scotland has a special attraction to photographers due to its fantastic scenery and sunsets. Not only photographers enjoy this unique location the area offers many other outdoor activities like kayaking, fishing, sailing and walking. At 31 miles long and about 1.2 miles wide it stretches past Fort William, fed from the North by Loch Eil and continues south as far as the Firth or Lorne, the Loch is fed from the East by Loch Creran and opens up into the Firth of Lorne at its South Western point. Scotland's Iconic Mountain, Buachaille Etive Mor Buachaille Etive Mor, know in Gaelic as The Great Herdsman of Etive, is probably typical of what everyone thinks a mountain should look like, with its near perfect pyramidal shape it stands proud from the A82 before you arrive to the magnificent Glencoe. Buachaille Etive Mor is seen in many Scottish books and postcards and is recognised instantly by every climber and walker with pride.
