Where is Signal Rock Glencoe

May 10, 2015 By Greg Murray 1 Comment

signal rock in glencoe

Signal Rock is located within the woodlands of An Torr a National Trust site of beauty, there are many stories linked to Signal Rock but it is most famous for its connection to the Glencoe Massacre. This rock is said to be the place where the signal was given for the attack on the MacDonalds of Glencoe. The story claims this is where a fire was started at 5am to give the signal to the soldiers to begin the vicious attack on the village, but local experts claim this is not correct and the rock was used for other purposes. The rocks original title is “Tom a Ghrianain” meaning the knoll of the … [Read more...] about Where is Signal Rock Glencoe

Kilchurn Castle

Legend has it that Loch awe, at over twenty five miles in length, the longest stretch of freshwater in Scotland, was created by a witch and lived in by an evil monster even more fearsome than the one at loch Ness. Before moving to Inveraray in 1746, … [Read more...] about Awe-inspiring Loch Awe And The Hollow Mountain

April 5, 2015 By Greg Murray 2 Comments

Glenelg Brochs

Glenelg, is not known to many tourist who visit this part of Scotland, many will pass by heading to Skye or the nearby tourist attractions along the route to the Skye bridge, and in my heart I want to keep this a secret all to myself. But you can't help wanting to shout aloud about this wonderful village and the most spectacular route to the Isle of Skye via the Glenelg Ferry. The route to Skye I am talking about is over the Mam Ratagan pass from Shiel Bridge, a great drive with hairpin bends rising to 1116 feet, and offering some of the best views in Scotland, it is a road to admire but … [Read more...] about Glenelg, The Most Stunning Route to Skye
