November 21, 2018 By Ron Leave a Comment

Winter is as good a time as any to Visit Scotland. You might not get the endless long days of spring and summer but it's just as beautiful and heartwarming. And there is an advantage of visiting Scotland in the winter, accommodations are usually cheaper, there is lots going on in the cities and towns around Christmas and Hogmanay and it's generally a great time to be here. My fascination has grown over the years due to the many times I've visited the very area and loch where they sailed from, Loch Ewe in Wester Ross. It's hard to overlook the many, mostly ruined, remains of the gun emplacements and other structures of this dark period when you are travelling around Loch Ewe. And if it's not for the structures, this period is still very much in the hearts and souls of the … [Read more...] about Arctic Convoys in Edinburgh Exhibition

Support The Russian Arctic Convoy Museum and See the Enigma Machine

March 13, 2012 By Ron Leave a Comment

It was in August 2011 that the community around Loch Ewe held a 70th anniversary Memorial Service to commemorate the first of many convoys that set sail from Loch Ewe on their perilous journey taking war supplies to Russia. They are determined to create a lasting legacy to the 3,000 men who died and to all who took part in this remarkable story from WWII.The importance of highlighting the … [Read more...] about Support The Russian Arctic Convoy Museum and See the Enigma Machine
