Welcome to Scotland Info - Your Online Guide to Scotland

Scotland Info is your online guide to "Bonnie Scotland". The aim of this website is not to be the most comprehensive Scottish source of information. Scotland Info however is a practical guide with many images written by someone who spent his holidays for the last ten years in this wild, unspoilt and stunningly beautiful country.

Finding your way around the site is easy. The main navigation menu on the left brings you to the main pages of the site from where you can find the individual pages. The Scotland mainland page gives access to the various regions in Scotland such as the Highlands, Scottish Borders and Sutherland. From the Islands of Scotland page you can find links to the island webpages such as Islay, Arran, Jura, Mull and the island groups Orkney and Outer Hebrides.

In the About Scotland section you can find some facts about Scotland, information about the weather and Climate, a section with detailed maps and if you are planning to get married in Scotland you can find interesting information and links on the Wedding page.

What would Scotland be without whisky, for many the main reason for their holiday. The whisky section explains how the water of life is made, there is an overview of the most popular distilleries in Scotland, from Campbeltown and Islay in the south west to Highland Park in the north and Glenfiddich in the Spey area. Further more an overview of all the working malt whisky distilleries in Scotland.

A news section is included in the site where I post images, videos, news and other interesting bits of information. The blog is titled Scotbytes Scotland Blog. For a list of events and festivals check out the annual events calendar

On the Scottish culture page you can read more about typical Scottish things such as the background of the clans and tartans, the food and drink, the gaelic language, bagpipes and many other things that make the friendly Scots unique.

The travel page, in the About Scotland section, gives access to the necessary information on how to get to Scotland, either by plane, car or ferry, and you can find information about local public transport.

The history of Scotland is extremely fascinating and most of us know the figures such as William Wallace, Rob Roy McGregor and Mary Stuart. In the history section you can read more about them and you can find a comprehensive overview of the history of Scotland, from early roman times to the last Jacobite rising.

Perhaps the most important section is wallpaper and images. During the many visits I have taken thousands of images and the most beautiful ones, in my humble opinion, can be found here, divided by region and/or subject.
